As soon I officially became a Naturalista (after transitioning for 6 months), Shea Moisture is the natural hair product line I chose to begin my Natural Hair Journey. However, I did use their Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie during my transitioning phase along with some Cantu products to set my twists. This line also hits home because it all started in Sierra Leone, my maternal origins.
The first Shea Moisture I’d like to review is the Coconut & Hibiscus Hold and Shine Moisture Mist. The product contains coconut and hibiscus. Coconut is great for promoting healthy hair growth and add shine to your hair. Hibiscus prevents split-ends, reduces frizz and also promotes hair growth.

I’m sure you’ll ask if I experience frizz when I take down my twists? The answer is YES and I’m not sure it’s related to the fact that some parts of my hair are colored. I can attest that I did not experience as much frizz when taking down my twists prior to highlighting my hair.
I had not used it in a long time to be honest with you. I purchased it again recently: its application (after setting my twists) in addition to my styling products left me with a soft and beautiful Twisout.
Where To Buy: I purchase it from my local Beauty Supply store. I have not been able to find it at my local Sally’s Beauty or Walmart. You can also purchase it directly from the Shea Moisture website.

Shea Moisture’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Edge Treatment
Though this product is supposed to be used as a styling aid to get rid of flyaways and provide hold, I use it as part of my night routine.
I don’t really do much in the evenings with my hair: after I take down my puff, I put on my hair net. Post-shower, I apply about a dime-size of this edge treatment to my edges, especially since I sleek them down every morning with Eco Styler Gel to smooth them down for a neater look.
With components like Jamaican Castor Oil, Shea Butter, Peppermint and Keratin, this product is definitely one to stimulate and promote growth, strengthen your strands, reduce dryness and damage.
Where To Buy: I purchase mine from my local Sally’s Beauty however, you can also find it at Walmart, CVS or directly from Shea Moisture.
