I can only imagine how nerve-racking this step can be.
The unknown. The questions. The doubts.
What will my hair look like? Am I going to like it?
But when you’re ready, you JUST are.
People chop their hair for different reasons: a new look, damaged hair, etc…
I had perfectly healthy hair and no issues. I woke up on 1-19-15, went through my wash regimen as I had scheduled an appointment to get braids done.
I got out of the shower and was trying to detangle my strands.
The toughest part of it was where the natural and relaxed hair meet. I also noticed that I had about 1-2 inches of natural hair that had grown in.
I thought: Why not NOW? Let’s do this!
I went to my kitchen, grabbed my scissors and started chopping, just like that!
I could not believe it!
I even asked Terence (my husband) to help me with the back as I couldn’t see.
Since my hair was wet, it was easy to see where exactly to cut.
I had/have no regrets.
All my life, I had cherished my long, beautiful, healthy hair and here I was chopping it.
I was kept saying to myself:
OH MY GOD! I AM CHOPPING MY HAIR! IT’S GONE!
But at the same time, I felt renewed, relieved.
No more going to the hair salons and spending 4-5 hours to get my hair done.
From this point on, I was going to take care of it MYSELF.
Coco Chanel once said:
“A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life”
Funny enough, about a month later, I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant!
Yes, go ahead and LOL!
Nevertheless, I had no regrets.
I committed myself to this journey and embraced it with open arms.
Now, let’s take a BEFORE look at my relaxed hair.
Ready for the CHOPPED look?
Finally, let’s take a look at NOW!
It’s been almost 2 years since I did the big chop and look at the results.
ARE YOU READY FOR THE CUT?
